Vita Mix 4500 Blender Review

Vita Mix 4500 Blender

The Vita mix 4500 blender is different from any other type of blender. Blender is not really the best definition of this gadget. How do you define a machine that cuts, blends, mixes, juices, grinds, and crushes ice? This is a multi tasking machine like no other. The best part is that the Vita mix 4500 is that food processing is quick and it’s easy to clean after wards.

I make a large smoothie most mornings because it’s not only delicious but fruit is very good for your digestive system. My Vita mix makes perfect smoothies with no ice chunks, everything is perfectly blended, something I’ve not always experienced with other blenders. It takes some horsepower and really good blades to puree ice correctly and the Vita mix has plenty in the power department and they only use the best materials in the blades.

One of the things I hated about my previous blenders was that they had a tough time with whole fruits and vegetables, but this blender hasn’t met a food it couldn’t chop, like celery, pineapple, grapes and tomatoes. No more stopping and scraping down the sides. This thing is designed so that the food is pulled into the blades, all the food gets pureed so completely that I’ve never tasted or felt the food fiber. And according the Vita mix processing food in their blender extracts even more nutrients since the blades bread down the cell walls in foods, something you can’t get with any other kitchen appliance.

VITA-MIX PROS:
  • The motor has more than enough power and the blades are well engineered. I’ve yet to meet a food that wasn’t blended completely.
  • No wasting of any part of the fruit and vegetables, I do believe this is the first blender I’ve had that can break down its entirety
  • When I have over ripe fruits, I toss them into the blender instead of throwing them out. I find that an over ripe fruit has more flavor, but it’s hard to get past the mushiness if it’s still whole.
  • This thing is fast.
  • It's a large container, so it's easy to make any amount you want, from 4 oz to 64 oz.
  • It cuts, blends, mixes, juices, crushes ice and grinds.
  • Self cleans in 20 seconds or less.
  • Durable and long lasting. After 12 years, mine is still going strong and I haven’t had to replace the blades.
VITA-MIX CONS:
  • It is expensive but when you consider how long it has lasted and no repairs needed all these years, it has been one of the best investments I’ve made in my kitchen.
  • It can be pretty loud on “High”.
  • It is pretty tall and bulky not easy to store.
My friends ask me why I spend this insane amount of money for a blender. I call it an investment, in time, money and my health. I have been burned before on inferior products, so I always try to buy the best (when I can afford it). The Vita mix 4500 blender is the best of the best and it really does produce drinks and sauces that are utterly smooth. It makes drinks or soups from fresh foods and I get the advantage of natural fiber that juicers take out. I make my own baby food, silky frozen drinks, and it lasts – 12 years and counting with zero problems. It's a quality device.

Vita Blender – Everything You Could Ask For and More

Vita Blender

Vitamix has a long history of making quality Vita blenders, over 70 years. If you are a serious smoothie lover like me, you don’t want chunks of ice in your smoothies. I’ve had problems with past blenders that didn’t fully chop and blend the ice cubes into the smoothie. The Vita blender has the hp, quality, and ability to make truly smooth smoothies.

While the price of a vita blender may scare some people off, the power and versatility were the key factors I wanted. Low power and cheap blades lead to poorly processed smoothies. Vita blenders are rate up to 2 hp on the output, which is significantly different from other blenders that rate their hp based on input. Output horse power is a more accurate measure of a blender’s torque.
One of the rules of my kitchen is never buy anything that is only good for one task and the vita blender certainly lives up to the term multi-taking. Vitamix can be utilized in a variety of manner: juicing whole foods, cooking soup from fresh organic vegetables, and making homemade ice cream. With all the variable controls, I can create smoothies with the taste and texture I want. And clean up is easy with soap and water.

If you don’t have your own collection of recipes, the Vitamix comes with a huge cookbook, with over 300 recipes – a DVD video cooking class and a getting started manual.

If you are a “made in the USA” fan like me, you’ll love the fact that the Vita blender is made in Cleveland, Ohio. That’s important to me. The Vitamix is engineered from the best materials, it has to be. With a 2 hp motor and blades spinning at 37,000 rpm, the main container has to be strong enough to take the impact of frozen items or not shatter if you accidently drop a spoon into the running blades. As an added plus, the drive is designed to give if something metal is dropped into the container, so the motor is not ruined.

My Vita blender came with a 7 year warranty, but I have relatives that have been using the same Vitamix for almost 25 years!

Now I love my Vita blender just for its ability to make smoothies and blending foods, but I have been doing an little reading and found out that the Vitamix actually provides better nutrition as compared to normal chewing and swallowing. It seems the high speed blades break down the cell walls in food, releasing more vitamins and minerals from the same food.

All in all, the Vita blender fits all the criteria to be accepted into my kitchen. It is a multi-tasker (makes my smoothies, ice cream, soup and can even knead bread dough), has tons of power and is easy to clean. Now the price can be a show stopper for many, but if you consider how much you regret buying that last tool that didn’t have the capability to do the job, then price isn’t an issue. And with an expected life span of 7 to 25 years, that brings the cost of ownership way down. And if the Vitamix really delivers more nutrition from the same foods, then you can make up the price in money saved from not buying vitamins.
